In providing writing services for online business, I draw upon a decades of business and life experiences. Originally a (darned good) secretary, I learned how to effectively communicate in writing by some of the top businessmen and women of the time – in areas including science, technology, travel, insurance and the Law (Australian and international).
It was through my involvement in the contemporary giftware and calender industries, and the mentorship of Tony Gilding (who encouraged me to become formally qualified in Marketing) that I was introduced to the world of Marketing Public Relations (MPR).
While with Tony at Skansen Giftware/Skansen Holdings in the nineties, I was responsible for the PR and Marketing activities of this publicly-listed company and its various products. The celebrity calendar launch campaigns that I designed and implemented resulted in national media coverage, both in newspapers and full color magazines. >>See examples<<.
For a significant period I was also the Giftware senior product manager with responsibility for the associated budgets and sales and warehousing staff.
The Sydney 2000 Olympics created an amazing opportunity for me to be involved in the Olympics hospitality program for News Limited. Leading up to the event, I was a member of the team that managed the travel, accommodation and event allocation for the local and international VIP guests of News. My work in this role was rewarded with tickets to the Opening Ceremony. Nice!
I established my internet writing services business under the mentorship of one of the world’s most highly-regarded internet marketers, James Schramko. I began providing him with articles to support his growing internet marketing business, and, with his encouragement, built my first website just a week after that meeting.
I now have dozens more – am an active affiliate marketer and have published several information products of my own, on the topics of press releases, writing for income, document sharing strategies, and a training course for online writers.
Several years ago I published a free glossary of internet marketing terms “What the @%!* Deos THAT Mean?” which has become the guiding light for those who are new to IM and who are confounded by the terms. In January 2012 up updated this considerably – it is now over 100 pages in length, and still free (download your copy from the sidebar >>).
So many of my colleagues and clients have asked to be able to pass this on to their clients or to be able to offer it as a free gift on their websites as well. To that end I repackaged it for sale for a modest fee as “Internet Marketing A-Z – A Glossary of Terms”, with resale rights.
I am currently working on two non-fiction books. One is on the topic of writing for online business, which will share the tools, techniques and strategies that I’ve discovered, refined and developed to help grow the online footprint of my clients, in an ethical, and Google-friendly way.
The second is a biographical work based on Australian pilot’s experiences when based in the Middle East in World War 2. Max was quite a man, and his letters home are challenging, emotional, sometimes funny, and always poignant.
I spoke at the major internet marketing events, FastWebFormula and FastWebFormula2 in March and September 2010 on the subject of SEO content creation, and was event manager for these, and all of James Schramko’s Australian live training events.
The term ‘astute’ does not always mean ‘big’. Kerry’s clients include local plumbers and retailers, international dental and legal practices – as well as multinational tech and industrial companies.
