Create News When There Is None

Posted on December 2010

I’ve just posted this message in a private  internet marketing forum to which I belong, and thought I’d share it here as well.  It relates to ‘creating’ news for press releases when you really have none, but want to reap the SEO benefits of publish a release by one of the premium PR networks.

“When asked to write Online SEO Press Releases for clients, I always ask for some specific information – much of which would apply to all types of written content: Read the rest of this entry »

James Schramko Extends A Very Special Invitation To My Readers

Posted on December 2010

***UPDATE:  THIS WAS A LIMITED OFFER, WHICH HAS NOW BEEN WITHDRAWN BY JAMES. STAY TUNED FOR ITS REINTRODUCTION.***
I am very closely involved in the internet marketing world, particularly in the provision of SEO content for some high level internet marketers in many countries.

It would be impossible for me to work in this industry without becoming aware of who the REAL experts are.  I make no secret of the fact that meeting  James Schramko (in very strange circumstances) resulted in giving me the knowledge and tools I needed to venture into this strange new world, when I had already past the half-century (something to which Australian cricketers currently aspire). What Does Your Client REALLY Want?

Posted on December 2010

Excellent service providers and consultants work really hard to provide the very best to their clients, and this doesn’t just happen by accident.

Particularly in the case of new clients, where no prior relationship exists, it is really important for both parties to have a clear idea about the expected outcome of a project. By clearly spelling out what is required, how it is to be accomplished and when it will be completed are the basics, but the type of project will dictate other requirements and outcomes. Can’t Get Your Head Around Sales Copy?

Posted on September 2010

I have to admit, I’ve had this problem.  I’m not a born sales person, and I really dislike the long, drawn out sales pages that internet marketers use.  But that’s me – and if there’s one thing I’ve learned about writing for internet marketers: it is NOT about me.

The reason that sales copy works as well now online as it ever did in TV and print ads, is easily explained – great copywriters get inside the heads of their targets.  They are able to stir the emotions of those people, and lead them through a carefully crafted process – to the point that they are oh, so ready to hit the ‘Buy Now’ button. Keywords Are Search Engine Magnets

Posted on September 2010

There is one statement to which all who are successful in online business will nod their heads. Its not the old chestnut that ‘Content is King’, or that ‘The Money’s In The List’. Rather it is something that is so fundamental to the business (and yes, it is decidedly unsexy) that overlooking has spelled categoric failure to those who ignore it.

It is no secret either -  internet marketing leaders have tried to drum it into people for years. It is quite simply ‘Keyword Research’. Read the rest of this entry »

Its Cool To Be Kind (and Other Great Lessons)

Posted on September 2010

I’m writing this on a flight home from Sydney Australia having been totally blown away by the information that was shared at FastWebFormula2 (you can pre order the DVDs).  This intermediate to advanced internet marketing event, was the brainchild of world-renowned IMer, James Schramko, who invited me to manage the event for him.

In fact I have help James create all but the first of his training workshops – with each one being more polished and cutting edge than the last. Read the rest of this entry »

The Shocking Truth About Internet Marketing

Posted on July 2010

Why is it that I feel the need to provide an explanation when I tell people that I am a Writer and Internet Marketer. The writing bit they get, but adding the ‘internet marketing’ results in one of two optical responses:

* eyes glazing over, or
* eyes averted in embarrassment

The first reaction tells me that they have no idea what I’m talking about. The second tells me they are thinking of either (a) porn, (b) scams or (c) both. Read the rest of this entry »
